The Lagos State Government is ready to deliver no fewer than 2,425 housing units in various parts of the state before 2022 towards addressing the housing deficit.
Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Housing, disclosed this at the opening of the Second Lagos Real Estate Market Place Conference and Exhibitions in Lagos on Tuesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the two-day conference is: ”Lagos: 21st Century Real Estate Investment Hub”.
Bension-Awoyinka said that the housing units would be delivered in partnership with Joint Venture Schemes and the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC).
She said that the inauguration would commence within the next few weeks.
She said that the houses and more were part of the government’s efforts, individually and in partnership with the private sector to reduce the housing deficit in the state.
According to her, the housing units ready to be delivered include; 660 units at Agbowa, Ikorodu, 325 units at Ibeshe, LagosHoms and 626 units at Abraham Adesanya Housing Estate, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
Others, she said were: 172 units Iconic Towers, Sinari Daranijo, Victoria Island; 38 units Channel Point Apartments at Sinari Daranijo, Victoria Island; 48 units; The Avenue Ogudu Scheme II and 138 units Davilla Court, LSDPC Ogudu Scheme II.
The special adviser also listed 72 units Ivy Suites, Ogudu GRA; 202 units IIupeju Gardens, Esther Osiyemi Street, Iiupeju; 10 units Sura Mogaji Terrace, IIupeju; 144 units Keffi Suites, Keffi, Ikoyi and 20 units in Love Garden Apartments, Allen Way, Ikeja.
She further said that the state government through the Ministry of Housing, LSDPC, LagosHoms and stakeholders in real estate industry had delivered lot of projects in the last 24 months.
”These include 492 units at Lateef Jakande Gargens, Igando, Alimosho, 120 units at Courtland Villas, Igbokushu, Eti-Osa LSDPC and 124 units at Apartments by LAGOSHOMS/LSDPC.
”Also, 252 units at Peridot Homes, Idale Badagry, 100 units at Bayview Estate, Ikate- Elegushi, 132 units at Iponri, LagosHoms and 84 units at Lekki Phase II in Eti-Osa, LAGOSHOMS.
”Another 360 units at Igbogbo/Baiyeku, Ikorodu, LAGOSHOMS and 32 units at Sunnyville Apartments, Ogba are part of the projects delivered within two years,” the governor’s aide said.
She observed that real estate remained strong and powerful investment all over the world.
“Apart from the role it plays in employment generation and creation of sustainable jobs, the real estate market has the highest potential of growing the economy of any state or nation.
