…HDAN Boss announces plans to immortalize Baba Lufadeju with an annual lecture series
The legacy of the late Prince Ebenezer Oluseyi Lufadeju was celebrated in grand style in Abuja as friends, family, and associates gathered at a Service of Songs and Night of Tribute held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David, Utako.
The evening was filled with heartfelt testimonies and moving recollections of a life devoted to peace, excellence, service, and community development.
Prof. Afolabiran a former Captain of the IBB Golf Club painted a vivid picture of Baba Lufadeju as a peaceful, sacrificial, and highly sociable man who touched lives wherever he went. He fondly recalled Baba’s pioneering role in establishing the first real African Rotary Club in Nairobi during his time in Kenya, describing it as “a testament to his commitment to community service beyond borders.”
Baba Lufadeju’s life, it was said, encompassed many passions, from being an avid golfer and founding member of the Abuja Jazz Club to active participation in Rotary, housing associations, town planning groups, and vibrant church activities. His unrelenting promotion of excellence was a recurring theme among the speakers.
Ambassador Iyama, a personal friend and representative of the Abuja Jazz Club, described Baba as “a firm believer in truth, a man of peace, and an indispensable founding member of the club.” His influence, Iyama noted, stretched across friendships, clubs, and communities alike.
Family members also shared emotional tributes. Pastor Toyin, a family member, spoke of Baba’s deep Christian faith and his instrumental role in reconciling the four dioceses of the Anglican Church in Ilesa.
His nephew, Afolabi Okenla, remembered him as “a second father who shaped my life with love, discipline, and early lessons in management and investment.”
Mrs. Adedamola Lufadeju, his daughter-in-law, and one of Baba’s daughters both spoke with warmth and gratitude about his unwavering love, attention to family matters, and the stability he brought into their lives.
Pastor Tunde Laniyi of RCCG Throne Room, Transcorp Hilton, encouraged the family to stay grateful for the impactful life Baba lived, describing it as “a life truly worthy of celebration.”
Housing advocate and Executive Director of the Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), Barrister Festus Adebayo, also delivered a touching tribute, revealing how Baba Lufadeju’s wisdom and encouragement helped shape his career in advocacy. Barrister Adebayo further announced plans to immortalize the late Prince by instituting an Annual Prince Ebenezer Oluseyi Lufadeju Lecture focused on excellence and service to humanity.
As celebrations of his life continue, the family has announced a series of activities to honor his memory. On Monday, April 28, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., a Service of Songs and Night of Tributes will be held at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos. Guests are requested to attend in shades of purple and white.
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., a Wake Keep will take place at No. 1 Obembe Avenue, off Ibala Road, Ilesa, Osun State, with a dress code featuring a touch of white.
The final farewell, the Funeral Service, will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity, Omofe, Ilesa, Osun State. Guests are encouraged to dress in shades of blue and white. A reception will immediately follow at The Kings Event Centre, Ilesa.
The passing of Prince Ebenezer Oluseyi Lufadeju has left a deep void in the hearts of many. Yet, the outpouring of tributes and testimonies from friends, colleagues, and family members reflects the powerful and enduring legacy he leaves behind, a legacy of love, service, excellence, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of society.
