With the official launch theme “Bridging the divide: Curating a prosperous and egalitarian society”, The Bilaad Development Trust aims at addressing social issues bordering on three thematic areas: Education, Entrepreneurship, as well as Social Change and Policy Advocacy.
They seek to provide a platform for cross-pollination of ideas and providing development initiatives to the less privileged by leveraging on strategic linkages between the Trust and the organized private sector; Government Agencies, civil society, and relevant stakeholders.
The Board Chairman of the Bilaad Development Trust (BDT), Usman Manko Babayitso, during the official launch and fundraising dinner in Abuja which held on Tuesday 11th July 2023 stressed the need to invest in education, Entrepreneurship, Social Change and Policy Advocacy which he described as the key that unlocks the door of opportunities.
In his words,
“We must foster entrepreneurship and innovation. In a rapidly changing world, where new industries emerge and traditional ones evolve, it is imperative that we empower individuals to adapt, innovate, and create their own opportunities.
By supporting aspiring entrepreneurs with mentorship, funding, and resources, we enable them to turn their ideas into reality and contribute to economic growth and social development.
Furthermore, we must prioritize inclusivity and diversity. By embracing different perspectives, cultures, and backgrounds, we enrich our communities and unlock a vast array of untapped potential. Let us create spaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and heard.
By breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity, we create a fertile ground for excellence to flourish and failure to be transformed into valuable lessons.
It is within our hands to shape a world where every individual, regardless of their background, can reach their full potential.”
Whilst speaking, The Chief Business & Strategy Officer, Abdullahi Idris Umar, urged stakeholders, sponsors, and contributors to remain steadfast and continue in the collective good work of ensuring Nigeria moves to greater heights, through tangible value-creation and collaborations.
The Coordinating Board Member of the Bilaad Development Trust (BDT), Sadiq Suleiman Abdullahi, also emphasized that the BDT is a call to social and economic development interventions towards the visible growth and increase in standard of living of Nigerians.
Former Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, OON, Talban Minna in a goodwill message applauded the efforts of the Trust and urged Nigerians to not be tired, adding that corporate social responsibility is a must for every individual and vital in every corporate organization.
The hope is to bring as many homes out of poverty, give children quality affordable education, provide adequate opportunities for youth development, promote gender equity and change the overall narrative of Nigeria for good!
