Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has renamed the newly remodeled government house after former Minister of Defense, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (retd.).
The renaming follows approval from the state House of Assembly.
During the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Ibrahim Yaboro, Permanent Secretary, Government House, Jalingo, said the honour bestowed on Danjuma was a gesture of appreciation for his role in pushing for the creation of Taraba State.
Yaboro stated that people of Taraba State will forever remain grateful to Danjuma, who is Abonta of Wukari, and former Chief of Army Staff and Minister of Defence.
“He single-handedly pursued and obtained the approval of the top military brass for the creation of Taraba State.”
He further stated there is no one in Taraba state who deserves the honor and recognition more for this “act of patriotism and love for his people”, than Danjuma.
“General Danjuma single handedly pursued And secured approval for the creation of Taraba state ” he said
The permanent secretary said General Danjuma is a statesman, philanthropist, and a leader whose impact on human capital development extends beyond Taraba State.
According to him, “We cannot enumerate what you mean to Taraba, Nigeria, and Africa as a continent.
“May God continue to grant you good health and wisdom as you continue to impact positively on the lives of people irrespective of tribe, religion, and ethnicity through your Foundation.” Yaboro said.
Danjuma, who was elated, unveiled the remodeled edifice, expressed his appreciation to the state government for the honour.
He also urged people of Taraba to support Governor Agbu Kefas in order to bring the desired transformation.
Top government functionaries that attended the event were Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagun, former Minister of Information and National Orientation Jerry Gana, former acting governor of Taraba, Alhaji Garba Umar UTC.
