Tanzania has completed a 3.2 km bridge across Lake Victoria in the Mwanza region. Named Magufuli Bridge after the late President John Magufuli, who initiated the project, it connects the Misungwi and Sengerema districts and significantly boosts regional connectivity, media reported.
Built by Chinese firms China Civil Construction Group and China Railway, the project was fully funded by the Tanzanian government. Despite COVID-19 delays since its start in December 2019, the bridge now enhances Tanzania’s links with neighbors like Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda, fueling trade and tourism.
