Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Sokoto State has emerged as the Housing Friendly Legislator of the Year 2021. The award is organized by Africa Housing Awards of Abuja International Housing show. Senator Wammako’s name came to limelight having sponsored the real estate regulatory council
of Nigeria bill 2021, which was recently passed by the Senate.
In a statement signed by Folorunsho Adegoke, the Producer, Housing Development Programme on AIT/TVC, he said the real estate bill; sponsored by the distinguished Senator has come at a time when the country is currently faced with series of building collapse and the reign of quacks and all sorts of malpractices in the real estate
sector.
According to him, honouring Senator Wamakko would make more legislators show interest in promoting affordable housing in particular and real estate in general.
He said, “We hope that a day will come when legislators will begin to have constituency projects in the area of delivering low cost housing to take care of people in their constituencies who cannot afford to build a house of their own”.
Africa Housing Awards of Abuja International Housing show is the largest housing and construction event in Africa and the owners of 10-year award winning Housing Development programme on the African Independent Television, (AIT) and Television Continental, (TVC).
The event billed to hold on December 10, 2021 would feature who is who in the Nigerian housing and construction industry sectors and across Africa. The award holds at the International Conference Center, Abuja.
