The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a notice of alleged misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy.
A document from the Assembly on Monday confirmed that lawmakers initiated the process in line with constitutional provisions.
The notice cited Section 188 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution (as amended) as the legal basis for their actions.
This development strengthens speculation that Governor Fubara might face impeachment following a recent Supreme Court ruling.

The ruling recognized 27 lawmakers loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike, who now serves as FCT Minister.
Last week, Wike stated that Fubara should be impeached if found guilty of any impeachable offenses.
“Politics is not child’s play. If he deserves impeachment, let them proceed. It’s not a criminal offense,” Wike said.
