EL Rufai Reacts As Bandits Attack Housing Estate In Kaduna
— Government Might Resort to the Use of Airforce Escort — Says Amaechi
Following the bombing an Abuja-Kaduna train which that had some passengers either killed or maimed or kidnapped, some unsuspecting terrorists yesterday invaded a low cost housing estate in Zaria, Kaduna State, inflicting damage on residents and properties on sight, after allegedly kidnapping some persons.
Nigerian newspaper, This Day Live reports that the Governor of the state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai said ‘with the amount of information and intelligence in the hands of the nation’s security agencies, they had all it take to prevent attacks by terrorists and other criminal elements in the country’.
This Day Live quotes the governor as saying that the Department of Security Services (DSS) ‘had informants everywhere, who were on top of their game, monitoring plans and communications of criminals, said he was angry, frustrated and felt totally helpless with the current turn of events’.
Also, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who visited some of the victims at the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, admitted that the Nigerian government might resort to using the Airforce to escort the trains, pending when the approval for security detection devices will be made available.
