Ekiti State Government on Monday urged traditional rulers in the state to make land available to promote agricultural development.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Olabode Adetoyi, said the Ero Dam project resuscitated by the state government in the Moba Local Government had capacity to improve and promote irrigation system in agriculture for all year round farming in many council areas.
Olabode said this in Otun Ekiti, headquarters of Moba Local Government, at a forum of stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in the council area to celebrate the third anniversary of Dr Kayode Fayemi administration.
He said, “Government needs up to 10 hectares of lands in this council for investment with development partners in the area of agriculture transformation.
“I want to use this opportunity to challenge our people, especially our traditional rulers, to come forward with substantial portions of lands for government projects.”
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief David Olusoga, described Fayemi’s footprints across the council as unprecedented.
