Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) London, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, has thrown his weight behind the N15 trillion, 700-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project of the Federal Government, calling it a “necessity.”
Speaking to journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, after delivering a sermon titled “The Mark of a Good Man,” at the 60th birthday celebration of Apostle Lawrence Achudume, the Founder and Lead Pastor of Victory Life Bible Church International, Pastor Ashimolowo highlighted the strategic economic importance and location of the road project.
He noted that about 60 percent of Nigeria’s businesses are conducted in Lagos alone, while the Southwest, South-South, and South-East regions are considered “Nigeria’s basin of wealth.”
However, he lamented that the roads in these regions are largely impassable.

Pastor Ashimolowo emphasized that the completion of the coastal highway would alleviate traffic congestion on the Lagos-Ibadan and Lagos-Ore expressways, accelerate the movement of goods and people, and foster growth and development in the South and the rest of the country.
While expressing his support for the project, he also urged the Federal Government not to neglect the repair of existing deplorable federal roads in other parts of the country.
He called for a reduction in the cost of governance and suggested implementing the Keynesian economic model, where the government encourages companies to overproduce, buying the surplus for distribution to the poor.

In his remarks, Apostle Achudume described himself as a man helped by God, acknowledging the challenges he has faced on his journey.
The celebration also marked the launch of his autobiography titled “The Man Helped by God.”
The event was attended by Achudume’s wife, children, and congregants, whom he praised for their unwavering support throughout his life.
