One person has been confirmed dead and several persons injured after a three-storey buildings collapsed along with Ahmadu Bello way in Kano State.
It was gathered that the story building which is under construction collapsed with several workers trapped within it.
The state fire service disclosed that only two workers were trapped in the slam when the building came down.
A statement issued by the spokesman of the service Saminu Yusuf revealed that while one person was rescued alive, the other victims were found unconscious and later confirmed dead.
Although the fire service spokesman could not ascertain the cause of the incident at the time of filing the report, he hinted that preliminary investigation to unravel the incident has commenced.
“Today is Thursday 17 March 2022, our formation, received an emergency call at about 13:39 hrs from Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) reported an incident at Ahmadu Bello Way opp. State Library,” Yusuf said.
“When our men reached the area at about 13:46 hrs, found that, a building of 3 floors of about 200 X 200ft, which is under construction with difference workers inside such as Builders, Carpenters and many more.
“The last floor is underdeveloped has collapsed and covered two people. Danjuma Tijjani about 52 years old was successfully rescued alive with serious injuries. Rabiu Musa about 32 years old, was rescued unconscious. The other victims went away with small digress of injury.
“All victims conveyed to Muhammad Abdullahi Wasai Hospital for medical attention and later confirmed the death of Rabiu Musa. Victim handed over to Corporal Zilkifulu Sulaiman of Nassarawa police Division. Cause of the incident is under investigation.”
