The Ogun State Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Olatunji Odunlami, has asked real estate developers in the state to follow due process by obtaining layout and building plan approval before selling lands to prospective buyers.
Odunlami said this during an interactive meeting with real estate developers in his office.
The commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Yetunde Dina, said it was discovered that real estate developers had a habit of acquiring hectares of land without following due processes and selling same to unsuspecting members of the public.
According to him, before such actions are taken, several procedures ought to be followed which include approaching the Bureau of Lands and Survey to verify if the land is not within government acquisition, after which the ministry will issue proper layout and building permit.
Odunlami said master plans were being prepared for major cities in the state and approved layout plans were needed to be incorporated into it.
Speaking on behalf of the real estate developers, Mr Tunde Adeyemo, said the current administration had been ensuring that the state was well planned to attract investment into the state.
He said developers would conform to the guidelines in the building and construction industry to complement the government’s effort.
