The Federal Government has commenced a five-week training program on Artificial Intelligence (AI) pedagogy for 6,000 teachers.
The training, officially launched in Abuja, aims to equip educators with AI skills, fostering national development through education.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, emphasized AI’s role in transforming industries, urging teachers to embrace innovation.
Alausa stated, “AI offers a unique opportunity to enhance learning, personalize education, and sharpen critical thinking skills.”
Dr. Iyela Ajayi, NSSEC Executive Secretary, called for state and private sector support to ensure inclusive educational advancement.

Ajayi assured the immediate implementation of minimum standards, providing a nine-month window for school compliance.
He noted, “The standards address disparities in curriculum, teaching quality, infrastructure, and learner outcomes nationwide.”
Dr. Oluwakemi Olurinola highlighted the training’s role in bridging the digital gap and empowering self-productive educators.
“This initiative will revolutionize teaching methods, enabling more engaging and personalized learning experiences for students,” she added.
The virtual training, sponsored by Google Research and supported by Data Science Nigeria, attracted nationwide participation.
