Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has said that the newly commissioned Banquet Hall of the Government House, Lafia, which was earlier billed to cost the state N2.7 billion, has been completed at N1.8 billion.
Gov. Sule made the disclosure on Friday when he commissioned the new building as part of activities marking the 2020 Democracy Day.
The governor said, “After the state government negotiated for a downward review of the cost of N2.7bn, it was finally completed at the cost of N1.8bn. Through the negotiation, the state saved N1.9m.”
The banquet hall was named after a former Governor of the state, the late Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma, who initiated the project in 2011.
Similarly, the governor commissioned the new presidential lodge in the state and named it “Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura Presidential Lodge”, after the immediate past governor of the state who initiated the project.
The events were attended by former civilian governors of the state: Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, the Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Barr. Muhammad Abdullahi, among others.
