Soldiers have been deployed to douse riots in the Ibafo and Mowe areas of Ogun due to the persisting naira scarcity.
The riot began in several parts of Lagos and has spread to the neighbouring state.
Ogun youths were reported to have besieged the Lagos-Ibadan expressway to vent their frustration over the scarcity of the new naira notes.
The angry youths barricaded Ibafo and Mowe axes around 8:00 a.m. on Friday, causing gridlock on the highway.
Vehicles were forced to drive against traffic as they turned back to avoid being caught in the chaos and sought alternative routes.
