The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has clarified reports regarding an aircraft mishap in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Contrary to earlier claims, the incident involved an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and not a helicopter.
In a statement, NAF spokesman Edward Gabkwet explained that the UAV encountered issues shortly after take-off for a mission near Rumji Village, approximately 15 kilometers from the base. Gabkwet emphasized that since the aircraft was unmanned, there were no casualties on board or ground.

He further assured that a preliminary investigation has already commenced to determine the cause of the incident. “Nigerians can rest assured that this minor setback will not, in any way, impinge on all ongoing operations,” Gabkwet added.
Earlier reports had mistakenly indicated that a NAF helicopter had crashed in the Tami village area of Igabi Local Government. Following the incident, a team of military officers from the Nigerian Air Force arrived promptly at the scene to secure the area and begin an initial investigation.
