Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency of Imo State, has received assurance from the Minister of Works, David Umahi, that the bad roads and gully erosion in his constituency will be repaired.
Ugochinyere had previously appealed to the Minister to address issues related to Umuchima Gully erosion, Orlu-Akokwa Road, and Nnewi-Uga-Akokwa-Arondizuogu Federal Roads, which span Anambra and Imo States. His plea followed the adoption of his motion in the House of Representatives, seeking repairs for these roads and the gully erosion site.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ugochinyere mentioned that the Minister reassured him that he had seen and heard his appeals and would do his best to help the people of Ideato. He praised the Minister’s commitment and readiness to address national infrastructure challenges and expressed confidence in Umahi’s ability to tackle not only the road challenges in Ideato but also those across the entire nation.
Ugochinyere commended the Minister for his dedication to resolving the ongoing road infrastructure issues in Nigeria and expressed optimism that the resolutions passed by the House of Representatives would be implemented.

Ugochinyere said: “I commend the Minister of Works, David, his commitment towards solving the perennial issue of bad roads in the country. I had appealed to him to see that the resolutions of my motions adopted by the House of Representatives to fix the gully erosion in Mgbe/Umuezeala/Ogboko Bypass in Ideato South and reconstruct the failed portions of the Oba-Aquata-Akokwa- Arondizuogu-Okigwe Road in Idemili North/ldemili South, Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo, Aguata and Ideato North/ldeato South Federal Constituencies of Anambra and Imo States are complied to.
My communication with the Minister is reassuring, and this shows that he’s concerned about the well-being of the citizens and is determined to work within all possibilities to solve the perennial issue of road infrastructure in Nigeria.”
This development signifies a positive step toward addressing critical infrastructure concerns in Ideato and other affected regions.
