In a Strategic move, the Honorable Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa has unveiled the formation of four specialized task teams: Housing Institutions Reform, Multi-Agency Project Delivery, Land Reforms, and Building Materials Manufacturing Hubs. Each team, comprising industry experts and stakeholders, charged with addressing key challenges.
He made this announcement during the inauguration of reform task teams held at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. In his address, the minister underscored the imperative need for sweeping reforms to address persistent challenges within the industry.
The Minister, recognizing the persistent housing challenges over the 60 years of Nigeria’s independence, highlighted the sector’s historical underperformance and underscoring the gravity of the situation.

“Despite successive governments’ housing plans and policies, our country has sadly failed to meet the housing needs of Nigerians”.
He appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing housing in the Renewed Hope Vision of building a 1 Trillion-Dollar Economy, commending the President’s bold steps including the demerger of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
“The good news now is that our President recognizes that housing must be prioritized to achieve the Renewed Hope Vision Target.”

Acknowledging skepticism towards government work groups, Dangiwa emphasized trust in the carefully selected chairmen and members. With unwavering confidence in their professionalism and dedication.
“The chairmen and members of these teams have been carefully selected. They are individuals of character who have exhibited professionalism, result-oriented leadership, and distinguished service in their various fields.”
He encouraged the teams to see their work as part of making history,charging them to give their best for the good of Nigerians and for posterity. Solidifying the Ministry’s commitment to providing necessary resources for timely delivery according to the outlined Terms of Reference.
