The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) on Friday sealed a residential property in the Agege area for lacking adequate sanitation facilities.
The property, located on Adedosu Street, Otubu, was found to have no toilets and only deteriorated pit latrines with exposed waste, prompting swift action to protect public health.
Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, announced the development on his X handle, emphasizing the government’s commitment to a sustainable, sanitary environment in Lagos.
“LSWMO, in its dedication to a sustainable environment, proper sanitation, and public health safety, has taken the necessary action by sealing this property,” Wahab stated, noting that the move followed complaints from concerned residents.
The Commissioner commended LSWMO’s General Manager, Adefemi Afolabi, and his team for enforcing compliance, stressing the government’s vigilance in preventing health crises, including the risk of cholera outbreaks.
Wahab further urged residents to adopt responsible sanitation practices, reinforcing the government’s mission to protect public health and promote environmental sustainability across Lagos
