The Chairman, Allottee Members of Orisan Water Front Residential Scheme, Mr Rasak Ayinde, has called on the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to take urgent steps to allocate lands to fully paid subscribers of the scheme.
In a statement, the chairman urged Sanwo-Olu to speedy actions to address the appropriation of lands to allottee members of Orisan Waterfront Residential Scheme.
Ayinde worried that 11 years after payment, subscribers were yet to get certificate of occupancy to physically identify with their lands. He urged the State Government and the general manager of New Towns Development Authority, and various institutions in the state to act accordingly to allocate the lands to allottees.
The allottees of state land in Orisan Waterfront Residential Scheme, situated along Lekki-Epe corridors, blamed LASG over failure to allocate lands and certificates of occupancy to the allottees of the scheme who have made payment in full.
Ayinde lamented that the allottees had followed up on the matter on several occasions by serving reminders to the permanent secretary of land bureau with copies to the General Manager NTDA and the surveyor general of Lagos State and the executive secretary of lands and bureau but to no avail.
He, however, expressed dismay over the poor handling of the land appropriation matters by the previous governments in the state. He urged the Sanwo-Olu-led administration to take immediate response to resolve the issues by allocating the 720 Square meters of land to allottees.
The statement said, “The allottees, some of whom are civil servants, sought the attention of the LASG to address the issue with utmost urgency by ensuring the fulfillment of the obligation of the state government to hand over the allocated 720 square meters of land at Orisan Waterfront Residential Scheme to all fully paid allottees.
“The scheme was implemented by the Land Use Allocation Committee in partnership with New Towns Development Authority and supervised by the lands Bureau of Lagos State since 2010.”
According to the allottees, the move by LASG in delaying the appropriation of lands to the fully paid subscribers was hindering infrastructure development in the state.
The allottees said that political and business interests within the economic corridors of the Lekki-Epe free trade zones had raised soaring interest over the land due to its proximity to the fourth mainland bridge, the new international airport and the emerging economy of the Lagos Free Trade Zones.
