The Kebbi State Government has officially allocated 10 hectares of land to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for the establishment of the Agricultural Machinery Development Institute (AMEDI) in Birni Kebbi.
This decision aligns with the Federal Government’s directive for each geopolitical zone in the country to host an AMEDI.
The document for the land, located along the Birnin Kebbi-Argungu road, was handed over to Mr. Khalil Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, by Alhaji Dahiru Zaki, the Permanent Secretary of the Kebbi State Cabinet Office.

Alhaji Zaki, leading a delegation of Kebbi State Government officials to the event, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for selecting Kebbi State as the site for the institute. He highlighted that this development would not only accelerate the state’s development but also create job opportunities for its youth.
The land allocation was made on the permanent site of the proposed institute, signifying the state government’s commitment to supporting NASENI in its mission to enhance agricultural machinery development in the region.
Dr. Mohammed Mohammed, NASENI’s Director of Procurement, received the documents on behalf of the agency’s Chief Executive Officer, emphasizing the agency’s readiness to commence the project immediately.
With this allocation, Kebbi State is poised to play a significant role in advancing agricultural machinery development in Nigeria, particularly in the area of rice production and other cash crops, which are key to the state’s economy.
