The Kano State Government has set up a technical committee to investigate the current cases of flooding caused by the state’s recurring heavy downpours during the last few days.
Malam Muhammad Garba, the state Commissioner for Information, said in a statement that the state government was concerned about the floods that had wrecked havoc on the metropolitan region.
He stated that the group was tasked with analyzing the metropolitan roadways, drainage, and culverts in disrepair with the goal of restoring them and reconstructing new ones where possible.
Garba stated that the committee would also look for structures erected on rivers, which frequently cause obstructions and flooding.
The commissioner expressed sorrow over the disaster and commiserated with those who had lost items in the flood.
He urged the public to be patient as the government was doing everything necessary to address the problem.
