The Nigerian Communications Commission has announced the shutdown of all telecom operations sites in Zamfara to deal with the rising insecurity.
The NCC disclosed this in a statement on Friday evening, signed by its CEO, Prof. Umar Danbatta, viewed by Nairametrics.
What the NCC said
“The pervading security situation in Zamfara State has necessitated an immediate shut down of all telecommunications services in the State from today September 03, 2021,” the statement said.
They added that the shutdown is to enable relevant security agencies carry out required activities towards addressing the security challenge in the state.
“In line with this requirement, Globalcom is hereby directed to shut down all sites n Zamafara state and any sites in neighbouring states that could provide telecommunications series in Zamfara State,” it said.
They added that the shutdown will operate for 2 weeks from the 3rd of September to the 17th of September.

- Zamfara State was once again the hotspot for another school kidnapping incident, as the Nigerian Police Force confirmed the kidnap of about 73 students of the Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, Maradun Local Government Area.
