The Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN) has congratulated presidential aspirants across party lines on their elections as presidential flagbearers of their various political parties ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
According to a press statement released by HDAN, the successful completion and outcomes of the political parties’ primaries is a clear indication that they are ready for the 2023 presidential contest.
While expressing satisfaction in the conduct of the parties’ primaries, HDAN Executive Director, Mr. Festus Adebayo called on all parties’ flagbearers to avail Nigerians their plans for Nigeria’s housing sector, hence fixing the nation’s housing deficit.
Recall that HDAN, in a recent press release, urged political aspirants at all levels to make housing a priority as well as include it in their manifestos.
Adebayo, however, revealed that a special platform has been created to engage all presidential hopefuls and the electorates in a political discourse to deliberate on salient issues revolving around the nation’s housing sector.
“We have seen the housing agenda of PDP and APC aspirants. Each of them have mentioned one million affordable housing annually. These promises reminded us of the same promise made by APC in 2015 which till today (7years after), they cannot boast of 50,000 housing units. We want to know how you intend to achieve your goal of one million houses annually, what will be your policies and strategies.
“If Nigerians have access to affordable housing, banditry and other social vices will be reduced to the barest minimum.
“With affordable housing’s multiplier effect, you can revive the Nigerian economy within 4years, create employment opportunities for the youths, among others.
“Make housing a priority in your manifesto and be ready to explain how you will achieve your goals”, Adebayo said.
According to him, the political leadership forum is a section designed and incorporated in the 16th edition of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) scheduled for 25 – 28 July, 2022 at the international conference center, Abuja.
