The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mohammed Bello, his counterpart in the Ministry of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; and three other Governors are expected to grace the 53rd Annual National Conference/General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), slated for November 7 to 11, 2022.
This was disclosed by the Chairman, planning committee of the event, TPL. Nathaniel Atebije, at a briefing Tuesday in Abuja.
According to him, the conference will be declared open by the FCT Minister, while Taraba State Governor, TPL Chief Darius Ishaku will deliver the keynote address.
“Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle alongside his Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Muktar Ahmad Darma; and Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Mu’azu will be at the event to specifically promote the state’s green city development in Gusau”, he further said.
Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, is also expected to participate in the conference. Abiodun will not only be participating in the event but will also receive an award of Honourary Fellowship of the institute, considering his immense contributions to urban development in Ogun State.
Atebije added that NITP’s International partners, ‘Arctic Infrastructure’ and other foreign participants from Germany, South Africa, Poland, and several others will also be gracing the annual conference.
The NITP 2022 conference is set to shine a spotlight on issues pertaining to urban security and physical planning by bringing together professionals and relevant stakeholders from within and outside the built sector for a deep introspection and dissection of the issues at hand, with the goal of developing a comprehensive and inclusive framework for the promotion of feasible urban planning, as a first step toward building a safe nation free of insecurity and developmental challenges.
The event will be held at the International Conference Center, Abuja.
