The Bayelsa State Government has commenced the construction of a nine-story civil service secretariat in Yenagoa, valued at N46 billion.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, commended the initiative, describing it as a step toward improving the working conditions of civil servants.
Governor Douye Diri stated that the modern secretariat would address long-standing office space shortages and function as an electronic workspace with advanced facilities.

He confirmed that 30% of the project funds had been disbursed, with another 20% set for release as construction progresses.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Moses Teibowei, noted that the structure, spanning 3,675 square meters, would feature eco-friendly designs, solar-backed power, conference halls, a six-bed sick bay, and a crèche.
Operations Director of Megastar Technical and Construction Company Ltd., Carlos Zanone, assured that the secretariat would be completed by 2026.
