The Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters in the Central Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, was on Wednesday morning gutted by fire.
The fire broke out in a room housing inverter batteries in the basement.
The fire was put out by the security men on duty before men of the Federal Fire Service arrived the ministry.
The spokesperson of the Federal Fire Service, Abraham Paul, confirmed the incident.
Special Adviser, Media and Communications to the Minister of Finance Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi confirmed the incident.
He said the fire was caused by a spark in the room containing inverter batteries.
According to him: “The fire was quickly put out before men if the Fire Service got to the ministry”.
When journalists got to the Ministry of Finance, normalcy had been restored as workers drove into the building after being searched by security men.
