FCTA demolishes Tonto Dikeh Ex, Kpokpogri’s Abuja residence, FHA renounces him.
After the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) destroyed his multimillion-naira villa in Abuja on Saturday, the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) disowned Joseph Kpokpogiri, an ex-lover of actress Tonto Dikeh.
Officials from the FHA, including its managing director, Gbenga Ashafa, visited the disastrous construction site three days earlier with FCTA’s senior management team.
The authorities stated that the parcel of land originally belonged to FHA, but that the home was built without a legal construction design.
Mr Kpokpogiri refused to comply with warnings to cease work at several stages and occasions, according to the FHA.
Shehu Hadi, the executive secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), who was also part of the delegation that visited the site, stated the road alignment had been done a long time ago and that the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) had been alerted.
Mr Hadi said that the destroyed structure obstructing the alignment was intended to act as an essential bye-pass to the Abuja-Keffi axis.
He went on to say that any plan to realign the road because of the structure would be complicated and difficult for individuals affected, given that the destroyed building did not exist when the plan began.
Muktar Galadima, the head of the FCTA Department of Development Control, said the home, which is situated in the affluent Guzape neighbourhood of Abuja, was unauthorized and could not be permitted to overrule public interest.
Mr Galadima pointed out that it was obstructing a significant road network that connected the city’s famed Apo Bridge to numerous other locations.
He further claimed that FCTA and FHA did not collaborate, claiming that all required conversations were fully recorded.
“There is enough inter-agency collaboration; the FHA sought the FCTA for allocation, and they were granted permission and told to make sure that everything they did was in accordance with the approval.”
“In 2019, we advised them that no development should be permitted on the plots; we visited for a site inspection and gave them notice.”
Mr Galadima stated, “We even designated the building for destruction, but the owner washed it off.”
Mr Kpokpogiri, on the other hand, has alleged that the decision to demolish his home, which is valued over N700 million, was oppressive.
He said that his home was destroyed because he refused to sell it to some “powerful” but unidentified persons who had pleaded with him to do so.
In September of last year, his relationship with Ms Dikeh came to a halt, with the actress alleging that Mr Kpokpogiri threatened to expose her nude photos in public.
