The Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors Abuja Chapter held its investiture of the 13th chairman and inauguration of the senate members on the 29 of April 2023. The event, which took place at a prestigious A- class Park and event center in Abuja, was well-attended by members of the institute, dignitaries from the construction industry, and other professionals.
The theme for the dinner was “2023 Budget Impact on Construction Industry and the Role of Professionals”. The keynote speaker, Bar. Adeola Ebaye Deputy chief of staff to the President who was represented, by a renowned economist and expert in the construction industry, delivered an insightful speech on the impact of the 2023 budget on the construction industry and the role of professionals in ensuring its successful implementation.
Meanwhile, the outgoing chairman of Abuja Chapter QS Nnana Ejeku while encouraging the incoming chairman and Senate, highlighted the importance of the construction industry to the Nation’s economy and the need for professionals to play a leading role in its development. He emphasized the need for collaboration among professionals to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
The newly inaugurated chairman of the institute, QS Abdulwahiwu Olakunle, in his acceptance speech, appreciated everyone present while responding to newsmen.
He also commended the outgoing chairman for his leadership and pledged to build on his achievements. He highlighted his plans to improve the capacity of members through training and development programs, enhance the visibility of the institute, and promote ethical and professional standards among members.
The dinner was also an opportunity for members to network and socialize. There was a lot of excitement and positive energy as members shared ideas, experiences, and best practices. The atmosphere was electric, and everyone was eager to contribute to the growth and development of the construction industry.
The investiture of the 13th chairman and inauguration of the 2022- 2025 senate members of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors Abuja Chapter was a resounding success. The dinner provided a platform for members to discuss critical issues affecting the construction industry and the role of professionals in its development. With the new leadership in place, the institute is well-positioned to make significant contributions to the growth and development of the construction industry in Nigeria.
The climax of the event was the presentation of the Awards Executive Director Housing Development Advocacy Network Festus Adebayo and other prominent heads of parastatals who have impacted the development of the sector.
