Minister for State Works and Housing, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo has emphasized the need for relevant skills development for a sustainable nation.
Speaking at the 2022 edition of the Construction Artisans’ Awards and Skills Expo, organized by the Construction Skills Training and Empowerment Project Limited (C-STEMP) in Abuja, Muazu noted that capacity development is key to the socio-economic wellbeing of any society.
While emphasizing the need to encourage artisans and skill acquisition in the country, he said that the decline in skill development is evident in the recurring menace of building collapse in the country.
He lauded the efforts of C-STEMP towards the development of artisanship in the country, aimed at addressing the skills gap in the nation’s construction industry.
He encouraged participants and winners of the artisans’ awards to continually up their skills while also impacting their immediate societies to achieve a skill-oriented society.
The Construction Artisans’ Awards and Skills Expo is an annual event conceived as part of efforts to generate excitement and interest in the construction vocational and technical trades within the housing and construction sector.
The annual skill competition is specially designed for skilled artisans and apprentices to showcase and project their skills and knowledge acquired over the years, thus celebrating their milestones and achievement.
