The demolition of a multi-million naira property in Onitsha has ignited a legal dispute between involved parties.
Uchenna Uzoeto, Sabest Nigeria Limited’s Managing Director, accused Council Chairman Emeka Orji of ignoring ongoing court proceedings.
Uzoeto insists he holds a valid Certificate of Occupancy and approved building plans for the disputed property.
Describing the demolition as high-handed, Uzoeto called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to ensure justice prevails swiftly.
He argued that legitimate ownership remains, stating revocation would have occurred if acquisition violated overriding public interest.

Council Chairman Emeka Orji defended the demolition, claiming the land was designated for a primary healthcare project.
Orji, through Council Secretary Paul Onuachalla, alleged the property’s acquisition involved fraudulent activities and document discrepancies.
He maintained that council efforts aim to recover government land fraudulently annexed by individuals without rightful ownership.
Meanwhile, traders operating at the demolished property lament daily financial losses and uncertainty surrounding their immediate future.
