The Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa (ASR Africa) Security Sector Support Grant has given the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) grants totaling N500 million each.
The spokesman of NIS, DCI Tony Akuneme, in a statement Friday, said the award was in recognition of the many successes recorded by the NIS.
The Comptroller General of Immigration, Isah Jere Idris, while receiving the award letter, commended the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, for the initiative and for recognising the strides of the service.
Similarly, in a statement, Awa Franca of the NCoS, said while presenting the cheque to the Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa, that the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Initiative, Dr Ubong Udo, noted that the organisation was set up as a vehicle to drive the chairman’s mission for Nigeria and Africa and to create a platform where Nigerians and Africans could take responsibility to solve their own developmental problems by looking inwards.
The ASR Africa Security Sector Support Grant Scheme is an intervention initiative targeted at sustaining impactful interventions in security and social development in Africa.
The grant is part of the efforts of the Chairman of BUA Group to give back to the African continent and make a lasting impact in peace and security as a means of uplifting and restoring the lives of Africans.
