Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, has ordered the immediate use of the 18 newly acquired road construction machines worth N1.4 billion.
Daily Sun gathered the equipment include 4 excavators, 2 pilling machines, 8 driving rollers and graders, and 2 bulldozers, which were imported to boost the capacity of resident engineers working with the state government and undertaking series of infrastructural works.
Zulum gave the directive on Monday when he visited The Asphalt Factory located along Maiduguri-Bama Road to inspect the newly acquired machineries.
He directed the immediate deployment of the machines to accelerate the ongoing construction works at different locations across the state.
Zulum also charged the State’s Ministry of Works to ensure proper maintenance of the equipment in order to remain functional.
On his part, The Commissioner of Works, Arch. Yerima Saleh, who received Zulum at the Asphalt, said the newly acquired machines would significantly enhance the capacity of engineers both at the Ministry of Works and at the State’s Road Maintenance Agency to deliver ongoing projects on time without compromising quality, noting that the equipment are suitable for high level infrastructure.
