While the state pushes for resettlement, flood survivors are struggling, with some claiming they have nowhere to go.

Many flood victims said their homes remain inhabitable, and the government’s decision to close the camps is worsening their situation. Survivors like Zara Isa, a mother of six, expressed their concerns after being asked to leave one of the major camps, stating they have no alternative shelter.

The government, however, has raised concerns that some people unaffected by the floods have infiltrated the camps to benefit from food and aid meant for the real victims. Governor Babagana Zulum clarified that only camps operating within schools would be closed to allow educational activities to resume, while the government assesses the damage and provides temporary tents for victims.
Despite these assurances, some residents are appealing for more time to find shelter.
