The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has unveiled plans to develop a diaspora city and low-income housing estates aimed at addressing housing needs and boosting economic activities in the state.
The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, shared the company’s ambitious plans during an appearance on Radio Benue’s program “On the Line” in Makurdi.
Asemakaha explained that the proposed diaspora city and housing estates are part of a broader effort to enhance living conditions and stimulate growth in Benue State. “We are committed to delivering these projects as part of our broader mission to improve the quality of life for Benue citizens,” he said.
The company is also expanding its bread and water annex to six local government areas within the first quarter of the year, creating additional economic opportunities for residents. According to Asemakaha, BIPC has already generated 472 direct jobs and 1,250 indirect jobs through its subsidiaries in line with directives from Governor Hyacinth Alia.
In addition to real estate and local commerce, BIPC has entered the beverage industry with its premium lager beer, ZEVA. The product, launched using a contract brewing model, has already seen significant demand, with the first truckload selling out in two days.
“This success has encouraged us to proceed with full-scale production. We’ve already paid for machinery for our Food Basket Brewery, which is expected to arrive in March,” Asemakaha said. The brewery, now 80% complete, will be publicly listed upon completion, with 70% of shares available for public ownership, 20% for BIPC, and 10% retained by the state government.
As BIPC continues to chart its course for growth, Asemakaha reaffirmed the company’s dedication to sustainable development, job creation, and improving the lives of Benue residents.
“Our goal is to not only grow the economy but also ensure every corner of the state benefits from these initiatives,” he concluded.
With these plans, Benue State is poised for a transformative year, positioning itself as a hub for economic innovation and social development.
