Contractors working on various road projects across Bauchi State have been cautioned to meet construction standards and deadlines—or risk losing their contracts.
This clear directive came from the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Prof. Titus Saul Ketkuka, who made an unannounced visit to several project sites in Bauchi town on Monday. The inspection was aimed at evaluating the pace and quality of work being delivered.
Professor Ketkuka reiterated Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s resolve to deliver infrastructure that not only meets expectations but also serves the long-term needs of Bauchi’s residents. He emphasized that any lapse in standards or unnecessary delays would not be tolerated.
Sites visited during the inspection included the 2.6km Gwallameji–Doka–Rafin Zurfi–Dass Road, the 4.5km Sabon Kaura–Birshi Gandu–BRC Road, and the 4km Zango–Gwallagan Mayaka Road, among others.

The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the work done so far by Habibu Engineering Nigeria Limited, encouraging the firm to maintain momentum and deliver all projects within the stipulated timelines.
“These are not just roads; they’re lifelines for our communities. We owe it to the people to ensure that the work done stands the test of time,” Ketkuka stated.
Representatives from Habibu Engineering, Engr. Zulfiqra Khan and Engr. Basel Usman, welcomed the feedback and reaffirmed their dedication to delivering quality results that align with the state’s expectations.
Local community leaders are also showing support. Malam Hassan Ibrahim, the Sarkin Yamman Galadiman Bauchi and Community Head of Sabon Garin Gwallameji, applauded the governor’s commitment to infrastructural development. He praised the progress on the roads and pledged community cooperation to ensure the smooth execution of the projects.
