Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has requested the State House of Assembly to authorise the executive to access the loan of over N5bn from the federal government to construct affordable houses in communities destroyed by insurgents in the state. Speaker Abdulkarim Lawan, disclosed this while reading Zulum’s letters.
“Government in its commitment to resettle the IDPs, has constructed houses in Auno, Mainok and Benisheikh among others, noted that there are many destroyed communities that need reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement, but lack fund is hindering the process,” the letter partly read.
Meanwhile, Gubio Local Government Area of the state has hired additional 200 hunters from other northern states to reinforce the existing volunteer team that comprises 300 Civilian JTF personnel and other vigilante groups, to continue helping the military against Boko Haram militants.
The LG Caretaker Committee Chairman, Alhaji Zanna Modu, told newsmen yesterday in Maiduguri that the special hunters were invited from Adamawa, Gombe, Katsina and other states in Northern Nigeria.
“Five patrol Hilux vehicles that were newly procured, would be handed over to these special hunters who are to work hand in hand with the security agencies, members of the Civilian JTF and other volunteers.
“The measure to hire these special squad of hunters who are to be deployed for three months period is to ensure peace and resilience of fleeing residents return back to their communities,” Modu said.’
