JUST IN: Airlines To Close On Monday As Aviation Fuel Prices Reach N700
Airline operators in Nigeria have all threatened to shut down operations over increase in aviation fuel, also known as Jet A1, to N700, thereby increasing their operating cost.
Speaking under the aegis of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), they said they have been subsidising their services in the last four months, saying they can’t absord the sudden hike anymore.
The airlines are Air Peace, Dana Air, United Nigeria Airline, Arik Air, Azman, Overland Airways and Aero Contractors.
According to them, while aviation fuel cost about 40 per cent of an airline’s operating cost globally, the present hike has shut up Nigeria’s operating cost to about 95 per cent.
