Housing is one of the 3 basic needs of man, it is in that view that the 13th Abuja International Housing Show has adopted the day 3 of the event as Potential Home Owners Day.
Speaking with Housing News on Monday, the CEO, International Housing Show Limited, Festus Adebayo said, ‘’it is time for us to bring together as many as possible potential home owners and interact with them on matters relating to home-ownership especially the youths, who should become homeowners’’.

‘’Sincerely speaking, if you can buy a car, you can own a one bedroom, not necessarily in the city centre. We have discovered from our research that a lot of our youths don’t know anything about mortgage, and this is the reason why the idea of buying a house has not crossed their mind’’.
Adebayo added ‘’we are going to devote the whole of Day 3 of this year’s show to the youths and all the people who fall in the category of potential home owners. To this end, we are going to partner Family Homes Funds, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Mortgage Banks Association of Nigeria (MBAN), Central Bank of Nigeria and the World Bank to support us in educating potential home owners about mortgage.
‘’If you cast your mind back to 2018, we launched ‘Not Too Young to Own a Home Scheme’ which has since been adopted by some estate developers in Lagos, Abuja and Enugu. This time around, we are devoting a whole day to potential home owners, including youths who by now should know how to access home ownership through mortgage bank or other means’’.
Speaking further he said, ‘’from our research, a good number of potential home owners don’t know anything about mortgage or how to access mortgage. We therefore call on mortgage institutions in the country to identify with this project, which will be one of the major focus at this years’ Abuja International Housing Show, in making this program a successful one’’.
