Reinvigorating Town Planning: Adebayo Tasks Members on Rebranding, Public Image Management
Members of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), have been charged to rebrand and efficiently manage the image of the institute.
The Chief-Executive-Officer (CEO), Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), Barr. Festus Adebayo, gave the charge during a speech presentation titled “Cutting-edge principles in Image and Relationship Management” at the NITP National Retreat held in Abuja.
Adebayo emphasized on the need for the institute to increase its public visibility, while also working out strategic collaborations with other professional bodies in the country for improved service delivery.
Speaking on the various ways to manage NITP public image, Adebayo stressed the need for truth, integrity, and a well mapped-out mission statement as major tools needed to change the profession’s narrative.
In projecting the good image of the institute, he advised members at the state and national levels to explore the online space by creating a website for their chapters, create media awareness and campaigns that centers on town planning, ensure active presence on social media to monitor activities and trends, while also developing unique trademarks that distinguishes it from other professions.
In a bid to guard against misinformation and undue intrusion, he urged the leadership of NITP to adopt the use of press releases and be strategic while engaging the media.
While charging members to prioritize the institute, Adebayo also advised them to be proactive and intentional in initiating the desired change.
