The Lagos State Government has lauded the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Rose of Sharon Parish, Ikeja, for the renovation of the science laboratory of State Senior High School, Ikeja.
The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
Adefisayo who was represented by an official of the Ministry of Education, Mr Ogunfuyi Hassan, was quoted to have said this during the inauguration of the renovated school laboratory, on Muiz Banire Street, Ikeja.
She said, “This equipped and renovated facility will enhance learning and teaching in the school and that is why the state government laid much premium on the teaching and learning of the sciences and we laud the church for partnering with the state government to enhance education.
“The state government has many schools that are begging for attention and we want to urge other religious organisations to collaborate with the state government to take education to a higher level in the state.”
The Pastor, RCCG, Rose of Sharon Parish, Ikeja, Emeka Obiagwu, said the equipping of the laboratory is part of the church’s social responsibility.
“The renovation and equipping of the laboratory was to mark the 25th anniversary of the parish and part of the church’s social responsibility aimed at positively impacting society, involving charitable works like feeding the poor, paying school fees for indigent, paying hospital bills for the sick and others,” he said.
