The release stated further that the lecture series in memory of Alhaji Jakande’s numerous contributions to housing provision and development in Nigeria, motivated the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDA) in 2019 to institutionalize an annual event known as Jakande Housing Lecture Series (JHLS).
REDAN described Late Pa Jakande as a man whose achievements in the housing sector remain unrivaled.
REDAN President particularly noted that “Alhaji Jakande’s lifetime and contributions to housing development will continue to be remembered by both the current and unborn generations as reference points in selfless service, exemplary lifestyle, uncommon capacity, devotion to duty, helping the masses and good governance.”
The association revealed that “JHLS has become a veritable platform that brings key stakeholders in the housing sector across Nigeria together, to proffer solutions to urban and rural housing development in Nigeria.”
The lecture has equally been described as a platform for stakeholders in the built industry across the country to proffer solutions to housing issues and recommend ideas that will advance Nigeria’s housing sector, apart from serving as a melting pot for analysing and discussing critical matters in the housing sector and proffering reliable solutions.
Additionally, it is an event where stakeholders interface with government at all levels on the formulation of housing policies as well as ensure a brainstorm on how to move the housing development and advocacy work forward in a time of deep anxiety and uncertainty.
The release observed that” the 2021 conference will provide another opportunity for housing stakeholders to take an unvarnished look at where we are, what can be done to strengthen the housing industry, and how we can translate policies and ideas into a workable programme for the benefit of all Nigerians.”
