Awka – The Coordinator of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), in Anambra State, Mrs Chika Ufelle, has said in Awka that the frequent recruitment of trainees is to make them acquire marketable vocational skills for decent job opportunities.
Such trainees, Ufelle said were drawn from unemployed school leavers and school dropouts, persons with special needs and fresh graduates from tertiary institutions.
Speaking at the orientation ceremony of the basic apprenticeship for 1050 beneficiaries yesterday, the coordinator said those recruited are attached to “Master Craftsmen and women in the informal sector to acquire the needed skills to face their future.

“The NDE cardinal programmes are designed to create jobs among the unemployed youths, women and others that may want to acquire life sustaining skills through vocational skills aquisition, entrepreneurial training, labour-based development and training on agriculture”.
She said that the intervening schemes of the directorate have made great impact at the grass root level by empowering the youths and women with requisite self-employment.
