To mitigate housing challenges among civil servants, the Kebbi State Government has proposed the construction of 1000 housing units of 2 and 4 bedrooms estate in the state.
Already, the state has engaged a private housing construction company, New Cruise Housing Estate for the purpose.
Kebbi State Permanent Secretary Establishment and Pension Matters, Dr. Isah Mohammed Sama, who disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting, comprising Government representatives and officials of the company, said the proposed Kebbi Housing Estate was conceived by Kebbi State to address the housing needs of people with special emphasis on civil servants.
He called for inputs and suggestions from all stakeholders before the final plan was agreed, stressing that the meeting aimed at addressing the issues of recreational facilities, cost, affordability, security in the estate among others.
The Managing director of the firm, Ravi Lohia said on completion, the estate would be first of it’s kind in the state as well as a bench mark in estate development not only in Kebbi but other parts of the country.
In his presentation, Ibrahim Annas, an architect, said the proposed housing estate would be carried out in line with international acceptable standard quality and in consideration of the peculiarities of the state.
The proposed Kebbi Housing Estate comprises of 857 two-bedroom units and 98 four-bedroom duplex to be sited at the airport road in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi
The Chief of staff, Alhaji Muhammad Suleiman Argungu, Secretary to the State Kebbi State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri were represented at the meeting, while the Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress NLC, Comrade Alhassan Halidu, and the Managing Director of Kebbi State Home Savings and Loans Limited, Alhaji, Isa Tunga were in attendance.
