Africa Housing News frequently puts the search light on personalities in the housing sector whose contributions are worthy of recognition. This week, Africa Housing News turns the beam on accomplished personality, Arc. (Mrs) Olajumoke Akinwunmi.
Arc. (Mrs) Olajumoke Akinwunmi – is a former Special Adviser, Housing Development and General Manager, Ogun State Housing Corporation. Olajumoke, an astute real estate professional had both her B.ES and B. Arch. degrees with distinctions from the University of Lagos in 1989 and thereafter, obtained a Masters’ degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Dundee, Scotland in 1994.
Her work experience spans over 20 years cutting across several companies and in top managerial capacities.
She started her career with Messrs Adeniyi Coker Architects as a Project Architect. Thereafter, joined Messrs James Cubitt Architects as the Project Manager and successfully led the team that was responsible for the negotiation and delivery of a residential development on behalf of a Pension Fund. She joined the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and was deployed to Shell Trustees (Nig.) Limited, the Shell Nigeria Pension Fund as the Property Development Manager.
She was the Managing Director/CEO of Avante Property and Asset Management Services, a company she helped set up in 2004. She co-founded Alitheia Capital Limited, a company that creates and manages investment vehicles, provides real estate and business incubations/development management and advisory services in West Africa.
She just completed her term as the Special Adviser to the Governor of Ogun State on Housing Development and General Manager, Ogun State Housing Corporation. She was saddled with the task of implementing and delivering the State Governor’s mandate of “Ogun standard” affordable housing for all.
She is also a Director representing the interest of the Ogun State Housing Corporation in Gateway Savings and Loans Limited.
