The University of Lagos Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development has announced a partnership agreement with Fesadeb Communications Limited – Nigeria’s leading media company driving housing sector growth through multifaceted approaches encompassing TV, print, radio, online media, consultancy and live-interactive platforms.
According to a statement by both parties, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sets out the terms and understanding between the University of Lagos Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development and Fesadeb Communications Limited for the establishment of a knowledge partnership between the two parties.
‘’This MOU is to establish the UNILAG Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development (UNILAG CHSD) as a research and knowledge partner to FESADEB Communications Limited; and to position FESADEB Communications Limited as a media partner to UNILAG Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development, hence detail a partnership framework for strategic partnership between both parties,’’ read the statement.
The key objectives of the Partnership is to establish FESADEB Communications Limited as a media partner to UNILAG Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development; establish UNILAG Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development as a research and knowledge partner to FESADEB Communications Limited; strengthen academic and non-academic media communications in the housing sector; recognize that each party is a strong stakeholder in actualizing effective outcomes for the other; co-organise events, such as workshops, seminars, conferences training etc on academics and non-academic platforms to promote housing sector activities.
The statement further emphasised that the UNILAG Centre will provide academic support to Fesadeb, both by way of research and capacity building, providing efficient and effective environment for its activities, while the primary role of Fesadeb is to promote the dissemination of academic and non-academic research on its mass media platforms to create awareness of innovations and research outcomes of the first party.
Both parties will work together in the organisation and content development of conferences like the already reputable Abuja International Housing Show by linking it up with the Postgraduate programme of the Centre.
They shall convert primary data from other sources to knowledge by carrying out in-depth analysis and interpretation of the data to benefit each other as at when necessary; Identify, initiate and broker joint publications dissemination channels in specific subject areas as agreed with the second party; Providing bespoke capacity building programmes as may be required for specific groups of stakeholders in support of Housing media and promotion and implementation to the benefit of the second party; Supporting the demonstration of public interest in Housing through carrying out neutral stakeholder analysis by adopting well-grounded research techniques such as surveys, focus group discussions and so on; Carry out evidence-based research on specific subject areas as commissioned by the second party.
As Industry Partner to the UNILAG Centre, Fesadeb will be providing support, media exposure and direction for research activities as may be required from time to time; Carry out all necessary activities to support the understanding of the housing sector for key stakeholders in housing media; Disseminate to local and international non-academic audiences, the Centre’s research activities as may be required from time to time; Raise awareness of the Postgraduate programmes of the Centre in all the media; Identify, initiate and broker joint publications in specific subject areas as agreed; Provide funding and logistic support for projects as agreed with the Centre from time to time; Raise local and international awareness about the Centre’s research partnership status with FESADEB Communications Limited; Commission the Centre to carry out project and non-project based research on specific subject matters as mutually agreed from time to time.
