The administration of President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Ben Iloanusi as the Acting Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), following the completion of Mr. Freeborn Okhiria’s second term.
Okhiria officially handed over to Iloanusi, the most senior director in the corporation, during a brief ceremony after his tenure expired on October 18, 2024.
In a statement issued by the NRC’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood, Okhiria expressed his gratitude to the staff for their support throughout his tenure and urged them to extend the same level of cooperation to Iloanusi. He encouraged management and staff to collaborate with the new leadership to ensure continued progress for the corporation.

In his acceptance remarks, Iloanusi pledged to promote teamwork within the NRC and welcomed suggestions and constructive feedback to improve the corporation’s operations.
Iloanusi, who previously served as the Director of Procurement, has been with the NRC since 2011. He holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an MBA in International Management from South Bank University, London. As he assumes his new role, Iloanusi expressed confidence in working closely with the NRC workforce to build on the achievements of his predecessor.
