Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing affordable housing for the people of the state, describing it as a top priority.
He made this known during a courtesy visit by Mr Oyetunde Ojo, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), and the authority’s management team in Yenagoa on Friday.
Governor Diri expressed readiness to collaborate with the federal government to attract more development in the housing sector. He approved the provision of land for the FHA to actualize President Bola Tinubu’s housing vision for the people of Bayelsa.
“In our first term, we focused more on infrastructure development to open up the state. We saw road construction as our number one priority.

This time around, we are prioritizing housing for our people,” Governor Diri stated. He assured that his administration would liaise with the FHA to ensure President Tinubu’s dream of providing housing for Nigerians is realized.

Governor Diri commended Ojo and his team for consulting with state governments on federal government housing projects and urged other federal appointees to consider the peculiarities of states and regions in fashioning national policies.
Ojo, on his part, noted that it was imperative for people to have access to affordable housing and expressed President Tinubu’s desire to provide housing for all Nigerians, irrespective of political party affiliation. He solicited 100 hectares of land from the state government for the project and applauded Governor Diri’s developmental strides, particularly in road construction across the state.
