The Jigawa State Governor, Badaru Abubakar, on Wednesday, commissioned the Kofar Yandaka Housing Estate constructed by Governor Aminu Bello Masari-led administration.
The project consisting of 185 housing units is located off Murtala Mohammed Way within the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina.
The houses were allocated to the people of Katsina State at a 35% subsidy rate on the following categories: Katsina State Government civil servants and public-private ownership.
According to Governor Masari, the state government is selling the houses off where each of the three-bedroom housing segment will cost N11.1m, while the two-bedroom housing segment will cost N9.1m.
He explained that the state government has put several things into consideration in designing the estate in such a way as to reflect the culture and tradition of the people.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Manager of the Katsina State Housing Authority, Lawal Masari, said the estate was constructed at the total cost of two billion, eight hundred and sixty-six million, six hundred and fifty-four thousand, eight hundred and seventy-four Naira, forty kobo comprising of 120 number units of three bedrooms houses and 65 number units of three bedrooms houses and thus includes infrastructural facilities such as road networks, water, wiring, and electrification installations.

“At this point in time, Katsina State Government through its initiatives on the provision of affordable houses has constructed a total of 2.218 houses
at various estates from state creation to date under the Katsina State
Housing Authority,” he added.
On his part, Governor Badaru commended Masari for executing laudable life-touching projects for the good people of Katsina State.
“We the governors know the situation as it is because sometimes, hardly the FAC will be enough for salary not to talk of doing fantastic projects like this,” the governor said.
“I thank you and congratulate you for doing well and Allah will continue to bless, reward, help and support you. I am sure you will be remembered as one of the greatest servants.”
