The Housing Development Advocacy Network, HDAN may have tacitly thrown it’s weight behind the second term bid of Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The Network, HDAN, is a leading non-governmental organisation, known for promoting affordable housing in Africa commended Sanwo-Olu for his giant stride in the area of infrastructural development and housing, saying that the governor’s achievement has earned him the recommendation and applaud.
Governor Sanwo-Olu is the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate in the coming 11 March 2023 governorship election.
According to the Executive Director of the Non-Governmental Organisation, Barr. Festus Adebayo, the governor’s performance in his first term has ticked all indices for a re-election and hope that residents of Lagos will return him back to office at the poll.
The group however urged the governor to do more in the area of low income housing in his second term in office, saying that this is one of the ways to ensure a better and conducive life for the low income earners in the society, which is the cornerstone of the NGO work.
Adebayo who spoke to journalists in Abuja at the weekend said “We want to commend Governor Sanwolu of Lagos State for his big achievement in the area of infrastructural development. We want to charge the governor to do more for affordable housing in his second term.
“Housing Development Advocacy Network, HDAN, want to commend and identify with the governor of Lagos State for his giant stride in the area of infrastructural development.
“We are impressed tremendously with his achievement in the area of infrastructural development and housing in Lagos state.
“The organisation has compiled list of what the governor had achieved in the area of road construction, health, housing and recently the red rail project.
“To the non-governmental organisation, the red rail project is another milestone in the drive by the governor to make life much more comfortable for the people of the state.
“We commend the state governor for the initiative and completion of the project.
“Again, we are also tasking the governor that in his second term, which we believe he has earned and hopefully, Lagos residents will return him back to office with their votes based on his achievements, to do more for housing, especially the low income earners.
“As for HDAN, we are committed to rally round every governor that has done well in the area of infrastructure development to ensure their victory at the poll in the March 2023 governorship election.
“We will be supporting them so that they can complete every project they have started in the area of infrastructure and housing.
“We are therefore calling on those vying for governorship position across the States of the federarion in the coming election to place priority on infrastructural development and housing, which has become the best way to stimulate the economy and job creation.
“This will in turn translate to better life for the citizens, which is the minimum anyone seeking for governorship position can provide.
“A better life for the citizen is a great concern to the NGO and we will leave no stone unturn clamouring to those in government to do more in these areas.”
